AIR

The roof of the Livingston facility was treated with a Duracool coating in 2010 in an effort to reflect heat and reduce energy used in air conditioning.

WATER

Our facilities consume minimal water and discharge minimal pollutants.

EFFICIENCY

Transportation and deliveries are coordinated with an emphasis on efficiency and reduced fuel consumption.

Prystup uses mineral oil free inks which are more environmentally friendly than their petroleum-based counterparts and increase the recyclability of printed paper waste.

Over 90% of the paper utilized in Prystup’s manufacturing is recycled and all production waste is collected, separated, bundled, and sent to local converters/recyclers—a practice which saves on energy and fuel consumption.

Prystup maintains the proper certifications to provide exceptional customer service and quality.

ENERGY

LED lighting in all warehouses reduces energy usage.

Social Responsibility

Prystup is dedicated to the prosperity of our local community.

In fact, Prystup employees serve on the City Council of Livingston, Alabama, the Sumter County Chamber of Commerce, and  the Coleman Center for the Arts of York, Alabama. In addition to supporting local athletic teams, churches, and charity organizations, PPP also provides support to the following local schools and organizations:  Demopolis and Livingston City Schools Foundations, the University Charter School (UCS), the University of West Alabama (UWA), the Sumter County Chamber of Commerce, and the Chamber of Commerce of West Alabama. Indeed, Prystup Packaging is represented in nearly every organization throughout the community; our company’s employees will always be at the forefront, setting an example for leadership.

PPP strives to provide a challenging and rewarding work environment in an area that is as well-known for high unemployment and poverty as it is for its rich, dark soil. Prystup offers good jobs at competitive pay in a region that is historically the nation’s poorest. The average length of service of our 160+ employees is over 10 years. Our company hopes to set an example for other diverse businesses and intends to become the standard by which others in our industry are judged.

A plant safety program is managed by an internal safety manager. Prystup also cooperates with the University of West Alabama Department of Nursing to offer employees free vitals checks on-site biannually and provides full health insurance coverage.

ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY           

Prystup Packaging Products, Inc. has a tradition of commitment to a long-term responsible and sustainable approach to our relationship with the environment and the human resources affected by our operation. In addition to compliance with local, state, and federal environmental laws, we strive to continuously implement practices which benefit all PPP, Inc. stakeholders, including, but not limited to, our employees, community, consumers, and customers. We do so by adhering to the following policies:

  • Preventing or minimizing the environmental impact of our operations, limited only by technological or commercial feasibility, focusing on our three main environmental impacts: waste to landfill, water usage, and energy usage.
  • Managing, protecting, and renewing forest resources for the benefit of future generations by maintaining FSC certification and purchasing paperboard from environmentally responsible vendors.
  • Maintaining an environmental management system that includes setting objectives and targets, tracking data, exercising controls, and minimizing the company’s impact on the environment.
  • Reporting the environmental performance to the company’s Executive Management monthly and Board of Directors annually.
  • Maintaining appropriate communication with our employees to keep them informed of the company’s environmental policy and of their responsibilities related to their areas of activity, and to ensure proper training as it relates to sustainability and environmental responsibility.
  • Committing to working with third-party vendors and service providers who, at a minimum, uphold the relevant environmental laws, regulations, and policies of the countries in which they do business.
